The Cultural Jesus of His Times

People who want to see change in society for the good of mankind prefer to follow a biblical Jesus approach rather than a historical Jesus outlook.

One of the ways people have created Jesus in their own image is a historic Jesus. They believe Jesus was for that period in history when he walked and lived on this earth. All that he has done and demonstrated of God, the Father, are good news and perhaps will never be able to accomplish again. Another way people see Jesus is from a particular culture or from a particular region. Those people feel He represented them and because of that, they are prone to be prejudice which creates segregation in society. This creates a division in Christian unity and forces God’s spiritual power to not manifest itself among the people in a manner that would have been more beneficial to humans. What has happens is that God’s power has been weaken by not given Him a chance to show up big time. Some people walk around believing they are truly following Jesus but in a pretentious manner whether they are mindful of it or not. Also, another image of Jesus is not seeing Him as who He was operating in the spirit.

The cultural Jesus is different than the biblical Jesus in many ways. One way is that He was far more humble than any person can comprehend. His humbleness went beyond that of just being fair where He offers compassion to all with a true sense of God’s love. During His time, it did not matter if a person was a Samaritan, a Diaspora, or a Jewish person. With the City of Jerusalem having been a multi-nationality center during Christ era, He offered help to everyone who called upon Him. Man’s cultural Jesus would have chosen who He should have singularly helped, but in God’s heavenly sphere, the biblical Jesus offered help to everyone who asked for help knowing that it was the Father’s will to do so.

Some church members want to follow the biblical Jesus while others prefer the historical Jesus whose are the ones who do nothing for their church. For the ones who seek a biblical Jesus, they are the members who are carrying out the great commission. They are excited to spread the gospel taking the word of God to every nation. They are making the effort to imitate Jesus. These biblical Jesus followers are the ones who will provide alms to the poor, take medicines to the poorer countries, and help in every way they can to sustain life for the benefit of the kingdom of God. Biblical Jesus followers want a safe environment to live in so they will provide a structure by teaching godly principles for the welfare of a community.
