Christianity is considered a religion by the world’s views, but religion isn’t one of God’s favorite words; thus it is only mentioned five times in the Bible and only one of those five times does it have a positive connotation. Christianity is based on the relationship that one has with Jesus Christ! There are may differences between Christianity and other religious groups, but only few differences that really separate truth from idolatry.
1) Eternal life is a gift! Gifts are free for one party and cost the other party a lot. Jesus paid for our salvation with His life through one of the most horrific deaths a person can stand. All we have to do to get to Heaven is place our trust in that sacrifice that He made and call on His Name. Most every other religion is built around works and merit taking you to Heaven! If you look at the Bible, God said it is the narrow way that gets you into Heaven. Why is it that eighty percent or more of religions call for works to get you saved and Christianity calls for salvation by faith through grace. What is good and who defines it? There are none good according to the Bible and man cannot set the standard of good because what are they comparing it to? Islam says you have to “try to fulfill the five pillars of Islamic faith.” If you are poor, you are in trouble because one of the pillars is going to Mecca? You better have money and besides, what does that have to do with good works anyway? If I were God, it would be common sense to think good works is what is needed but God knew He deals with humans and humans are sinners and so He made it free because He loves us and all we have to do is accept the free gift!
2) A risen Savior! I was talking with a Buddhist man one day that I knew very well and he said that he could not get saved. He had been fighting this thing for a long time and in his heart, he was battling! I asked him where the body of Buddha was and he said Buddha’s bones were spread around in different places and I told him that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and when he knew that, he got saved. He said to me that all his life, he had put his trust in someone who couldn’t defeat death. How can I get to Heaven with someone that can’t even rise from the dead themselves? I put my trust in a risen Savior and therefore, one day, I will rise to meet Him in the air.
There are many good people that have been taught the wrong thing! I don’t claim to be a hundred percent correct in everything, but I do know where I am going when I die for sure and I put my trust in a Savior that defeated death by resurrecting from the dead. Those are the two major differences between Christianity and everything else!
