THE JUST LIVES BY FAITH

Text: Romans 1: 17 – The Good news tells us how God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished form the start to finish by faith. As the scripture says, “It is through faith that the righteous person has life (New Living Translation)”.

Faith according to Evans “Is not a sense, nor sight, nor reason, but taking God at His word.” God makes us right through faith in His Son Jesus Christ who died that we might have life. That is the entirety of the gospel we preach. Before the law came, the promise, which came through Abraham, has lasted 430 years (Galatians 3:17). Many people depend on the work of righteousness (law) for salvation even in this our present age with dos and don’ts. We should remember that our righteousness is mere filthy rag before God (Isaiah 64: 6) which His purer eyes cannot behold (Habakkuk 1: 13).

What pleases God is faith (Hebrews 11: 6). For this reason men like Noah, Abraham, Moses, and women like Deborah, Sarah, etc, were all inducted into the ‘Faith Hall of Fame’ in Hebrews Chapter 11. You cannot receive anything above your faith. Faith means trusting God’s ability to provide, protect and meet your needs. The concluding part of our text is mentioned 4 times in the Bible (Habakkuk 2: 4, Romans 1: 17; Galatians 3: 11 and Hebrews10: 38). This goes to show the emphasis that God places on faith. You life depends on faith.

It is by faith we eat, sleep, drive vehicles, walk across bridge, stay under ceiling fan, etc. There is nothing we do that we do not apply faith. If this is true, why do we then doubt when confronted some problems? The faith we show when we stay under fan should also be applied. That is why God likes and approves childlike faith. Do you live by faith or by sight (2 Corinthians 5: 7)? What you see can deceive you. When you learn to trust God in all things you need, you will begin to free yourself from anxiety.

Food for Thought: He who believes is strong; he who doubts is weak – Clarke

Prayer Points:

1. Thank God for a new month and commit your plans concerning this new month into God’s hands.

2. Pray you will live by faith this month and beyond.
