The Mark of the Beast, Is It Closer Than we Think?

It is very common to read the Bible and wonder exactly what the end times prophecy is referring to when it says that there will be a “mark” of the anti-christ. The number is given in the Bible as six hundred, three-score and six, (666) the number of the name of the anti-christ. With all the hype in recent decades ever since Hollywood decided to get in the act with its movie series, “the Omen”, and of course the much more recent remake by the same title, it is difficult for people to comprehend exactly how anyone could see those movies, read the Bible and other literature regarding the subject, and still be willing to take that mark.

This is an understandable question, one that I have also asked many times in my Christian walk. But with all that is going on in the world today, it is become increasingly more clear that there is a plausible explanation for it. Some people will be willing to take the mark of the beast which will condemn them to an eternity in hell, and they will do it gladly, thinking that it is for the best. Take a look at what is going on in the farming communities for example. There is a new law for farm animals, that states they must be electronically tagged with a micro-chip that is inserted beneath the skin. Now the chip itself is relatively inexpensive, about two to three dollars each, but the cost tends to add up when you have say, two hundred head of cattle to tag. The monitor that reads these micro-chips costs about three or four hundred dollars all by itself, and these devices are mandatory for farmers.

Why are they doing this, you may ask? It is certainly not because of recent scares involving avian flu, since it has been said that birds themselves will not be forcibly tagged, probably because they are so darn hard to catch. But each animal that is tagged, and this could possibly affect Fido and Puss as well, will be monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. If the animals leave your farm, or property, that information will be known, if they go to the veterinarian that too will be known…known by whom? Hard to say, nobody seems to want to part with that information, let’s just say, “big brother”. The point of this little digression is that this will start the whole process toward the mark of the Beast, and it will escalate from there.

Think about it for a moment…when we have gotten used to having our pets micro-chipped, then it is an easy hop, skip and a jump to implanting correctional facility inmates, to make sure that if one escapes he or she can be traced easily and re-captured. This technology will no doubt be introduced in the light of protecting society from dangerous escapees. It will sound like a great idea, one well past its time. Then, the government will be micro-chipping illegal aliens before they are deported, in order to keep track of them to make sure they do not attempt a border crossing again. In the light of recent news reports about border crossings and damage to farmers’ land and crops, this will also seem like a worthy idea. It will be implemented, and everyone will rest easy knowing our country’s borders are safe.

Then, we will be introduced to grocery stores that will not sell to you unless you are a member of a special club, but the mark of membership in that club will be that lovely little micro-chip, which will safeguard you from high taxes because they will help prevent shop-lifting. So people will want to join this club and get “chipped” just to save some money on their food bills. It will seem like a great idea. The more we get used to it, the more this electronic system will be used. Gas stations will use it, to sell gas to “members only”and of course hospitals will have to have a system implemented in order to prevent hypochondriac E.R. visits. They won’t even have to ask what is wrong with you anymore, all they would have to do is run the monitor over the implant site and the chip will tell them all they want to know.

Schools will want to implant their teachers and students so that an alarm would go off if someone without the chip entered the school without a special pass. This would be wonderful for parents all over the country and the world as well, because they will send their kids to school each day, comfortable in the knowledge that nothing bad is going to happen to their sons and daughters. Trust me, all of the above mentioned uses of the micro-chip are entirely possible. After all, we have the technology right now, all we have to do is create laws governing its usage. Where, you might ask, is the mark of the beast in all this? Well, it should be obvious by now where I am leading with this topic. When the governments of the world have gotten their citizens fully comfortable with the concept of implanted micro-chips, they will begin promoting them world-wide for all sorts of purposes, including a general population implant that will be mandatory for every human being on the planet.

Why do some Christians believe that the mark of the beast will be an implanted chip? Reading the Bible very carefully is why. Revelation chapter 13 vs 16 says this: And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: (vs 17) and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Did you catch it? The book of Revelation clearly says IN the right hand, or IN their forehead. That would imply something that is surgically implanted under the skin. If it were simply a brand of some kind on the surface, the Bible would have said so. It would have phrased things differently. ON would have been used rather than IN.

This is how the anti-christ is going to be able to rule the whole world, by keeping its entire population very carefully under his thumb. If anyone refuses to take the mark, he or she will be taken to the guillotine and executed. You don’t think there are any guillotines around in this day and age? Think again. There are working guillotines in this world, that although not currently in use, are being maintained on a regular basis in preparation for a time when they could be called into service again. These killing devices, ladies and gentlemen, are not just museum pieces either. They are fully functional, right down to the very sharp blade. The Bible is very specific about this, beheading will be the mode of death used as punishment for not taking the mark of the beast, and although a sharp axe or sword could also be used, for mass executions, and also for publicized drama, the guillotine has always been the tool of choice.

So, I guess, it is becoming clearer all the time why there will actually be some people who, even knowing all the horror stories, fact and fiction, will still be willing to take that mark. They will be so used to having it around that one more silly little micro-chip will not bother them in the least. Only this chip will be different in the fact that once taken, the choice cannot be undone, even if the chip were removed, the wearer would still be forever condemned to hell. To me, that’s even worse than half a second under a blade. But this is what the great Tribulation is all about, preparation for hell, which is where the anti-christ and the false prophet will be sent once Christ returns with His massive army.

Whether you believe in God or not, or believe in the Bible or not, is completely irrelevent. God’s existance is not dependent on our belief, and His word is truth, no matter which language you may read it in. When God says a tribulation will occur, take His Word for it. When He says there will be a mark in the right hand or in the forehead, then that is where they will be. If He says that the martyrs will be beheaded for His cause, then that is truly what will happen. And, if God says there is going to be a “lifting up” of his children, prior to this terrible tribulation, a lifting out of the time of trial, then that is the case. If you are one of God’s own, He will deliver you out of the horrors of the coming tribulation. But for those who refuse to become one of His own, well, heaven help you, because you will not like what is to come. It is already on its way even as you read this now.
