The Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

I have always heard of this person, who was the seventh son of his father, and he was the seventh son of your grandfather. But what if you were this seventh son. What would that mean?

“An I can heal the sick, An even raise the dead, And make you little girls, Talk out of your head”. That’s from a song I heard as a young man. It was done by Johnny Rivers and in the song, he was the seventh son of a seventh son. But what significance did this have? Well, the seventh son of a seventh son was a person who had magic powers, and could heal the sick and even raise the dead. He could also tell your future. I’m sure that throughout our long history, there have been many suck people, but whether they had the powers or not, I can’t be sure. And if you wanted to create such a person, it was really difficult because it took so long and you had to wait for your seventh son to also have seven sons.

But there was another requirement. No female could be born in between and that’s something very difficult to control. The number seven is supposed to have some religious significance. I have always believed that it was God’s favorite numbers. He created the world in seven days after all. And although this was not related to God, there were the Seven Wonders of the World. It also appears to have been written about in the bible, in the old and new testaments.

It is even believed that the seventh son is the devil, or sent by the devil. Where the seventh son concept was started is difficult to pinpoint because there are many stories. It was said to have started in Ireland but also in Latin America. There is even a popular belief that there also exists a seventh daughter of a seventh daughter who also has powers to tell the future, heal the sick, tell the future and so on. But the son, it was even believed, should also be born during the seventh hour of the seventh day in the seventh month (or July 7th at 7:00 in the morning).

As you can see, being the seventh son of a seventh son is quite difficult to accomplish. I doubt really that such magic exists just because of who you are and when you were born, although it was mentioned in the bible. I was not so lucky I guess because I was the number one son in our family. But you never know what exists in our world, do you?
