The apostle Paul writes to warn the church to beware of false teachings and the philosophy of men with limited knowledge of what they teach. Paul, he also gives instruction to Christians about how to act and how to live a life that is pleasing to the Will of GOD. And, most importantly, the Holy Spirit which work through GOD’S servant Paul makes it perfectly clear to all people who Jesus Christ is and why He came and what He has made.
4 “And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
16 “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,”
The Book of Colossians, Paul an Apostle of Jesus Christ writes the church first at Colosse and to all born again Christians in Jesus Christ, to be warned that false teachers have entered in whom speaks of things which they know not and rather than teach the Word of GOD, these men teach philosophy and traditions of men beguiling many away from the truth which is the Word of GOD. These faithless men use deceit and enticing words to lure those that have not a solid foundational understanding and knowledge of the Word of GOD, away from the truth that is the Word of GOD. So, beware of these vain babblers who know not the truth, but instead teach things which they themselves do not fully understand through philosophy and the tradition of men of this world and that is not of the only Living GOD Jesus Christ.
Make yourselves ready to defend and to be able to withstand the attacks of the wicked one, by reading the Word of GOD, and praying by the Holy Spirit to help you understand the knowledge and the wisdom of GOD by the Word of GOD. The only way that any of us can defend against deceit and false teachings of this present world, is to know for ourselves what GOD speaks, teaches and promises us by turning to the Word of GOD and reading it, praying about it and mediating over what the LORD GOD has shared with us through His Word. If we do this, then when the wolves come to seek who they can lure away and destroy through false teachings of men; we can repel their attack and take refuge in GOD as He is the Good Shepherd who laid down his own life for his sheep and has already once and for all defeated that Wicked One the Devil from the Cross of Calvary. When Jesus Christ shed his own Precious Blood, He single-handedly defeated Satan and took away the sins of the world.
In “The Book of Colossians” the apostle Paul makes it perfectly clear who Jesus Christ is, why He came into the world and what Jesus Christ did for us sinners. There are many, many teachings about this very topic throughout the entire Book of Colossians as well as throughout the whole Word of GOD, but there is several that I would like to share with you right now.
1 “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
4 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
7 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
8 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven;”
Apart from these teaches that the apostle Paul as shared with all of us who are followers of Jesus Christ and who are members of the One Body of the Lord Jesus Christ; Paul continues through the next three chapters to edify the Church which is the Body of Jesus Christ and Jesus being the Head of the Body; to instruct us how we should live to the Will and the pleasing of GOD. Remember, we are ensamples to our other brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, as well are we ambassadors he on earth to share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ and to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in truth and with love to a blind and lost world of unbelievers.
