1. “judge not lest you be judged”… -Matt 7:1
This is taken out of context the most often. People misquote this by saying “The Bible says not to judge”. This is untrue, the passage goes on to explain to not judge unless you wished to be judged likewise. Therefore, it’s really a passage telling us not to be hypocrites and judge other for the SAME sin we commit.
2. “If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched.” -Mark 9:43
Many people try to take shots at the Bible in quoting this verse even though it is so obviously not meant to be literal. It is only showing the importance of eternity and the damages of sin.
3. “Servants, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel. ” -1 Peter 2:18
This was written by Peter to explain to the slaves who couldn’t fix the injustice being done to them to act as a follower of Christ and to be an example even to those who oppress you. In no way does this verse promote slavery which some would have you believe.
