“Online Bible” is one of the best Bible tools that can be downloaded free of charge. Apart from this it has loads of add-on modules both by its creator and by users who have uploaded their own modules. Despite the name it is to be used offline. I have written a little on Online Bible in my article How to Understand The Bible (Part Two). Its most basic feature is to type in a word and see all the references to that word in the Bible. However, it may not be well known that you can tweak your searches with this bible tool to find texts much more efficiently.
(1) Bible Study
What if you wanted to find all Bible references to “worship”, “worshipped”, “worshipping” and “worshippers”, that could take four separate searches. This is where using an asterisk comes in very handy. Type in “worship*” without the quotation marks and you will find all the Bible texts that have some variation of the word “worship” in it.

(2) For those who cannot spell
Many Christians, even the educated ones among us, cannot spell too well. You want to find the story of Mary and her alabaster box of perfume and how she wiped Jesus feet with her hair. Typing in the words “Mary” or “Jesus” or “hair” will not do. There are just too many references. You have to type in “alabaster.” Not everyone can spell “alabaster.” Most people have never even heard the word outside of the Bible. With Online Bible you just have to type “alab” followed by an asterisk and all the texts with “alabaster” will come up! In fact, if you could only manage “ala” followed by an asterisk, only 32 texts will come up and you would just have to sift through the other words ignoring “alarm”, “alas” and the Biblical musical term “Alamoth.”
(3) Poets and Songwriters
Are you a poet or a songwriter like the psalmist David? If you want to find all the words that rhyme with “Jesus” you could search for “*us.” It would give you all the words in the Bible that end in “us.” You would get names like Zacchaeus, Alphaeus, Timotheus etc. Typing in “*eat” will find texts with “eat”, “meat”, “seat” and “heat.”
