Understanding – The Ten Commandments

There is a requirement of man which we are accountable to know and live in the trial of our lives, even before charges are presented to the eternal judge of life.

Beginning at: Exodus 20:1-17

And God said all these words:
I am the Lord your God who took you out of the land of Egypt, out of the prison-house.

  • You are to have no other gods but me.
  • You are not to make an image or picture of anything in heaven or on the earth or in the waters under the earth:

You may not go down on your faces before them or give them worship: for I, the Lord your God, am a God who will not give his honour to another; and I will send punishment on the children for the wrongdoing of their fathers, to the third and fourth generation of my haters; And I will have mercy through a thousand generations on those who have love for me and keep my laws.

  • You are not to make use of the name of the Lord your God for an evil purpose; whoever takes the Lord’s name on his lips for an evil purpose will be judged a sinner by the Lord
  • Keep in memory the Sabbath and let it be a holy day.
On six days do all your work: But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; on that day you are to do no work, you or your son or your daughter, your man-servant or your woman-servant, your cattle or the man from a strange country who is living among you:
For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and everything in them, and he took his rest on the seventh day: for this reason the Lord has given his blessing to the seventh day and made it holy.
  • Give honour to your father and to your mother, so that your life may be long in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
  • Do not put anyone to death without cause.
  • Do not be false to the married relation.
  • Do not take the property of another.
  • Do not give false witness against your neighbour.
  • Let not your desire be turned to your neighbour’s house, or his wife or his man-servant or his woman-servant or his ox or his ass or anything which is his.

We recognize these commandments of the mosaic law. They are the foundation of the laws of varying countries around the world. One aspect however is often overlooked on our journey for salvation.

Of these laws one should know if I disregard any one – the entirety of its purpose has no meaning to me. In essence I consider my self above the law, the rule of man, the legislature of order, and more importantly the desire of God (obedience).

Further understand the purpose of this law, it comprises ten standards for determining the righteous man, and all are required to be met completely in the accounting of judgement. Perfection is God’s rule and our purpose. In his court and our trial The Law must be fulfilled and yet could only be fulfilled by one;

Him, or rather His Son Jesus

He alone could fully live each standard with understanding – with little complaint or burden, because He alone knew the relationship they inferred; The relationship of pure love. It’s hard to see in the restrictions, but view it from the side of a parent who desires the best for his child. He knows the agony that will be experienced away from his side and so he gives man a set of instructions so that pain will never be tasted by his sons Because he loves them purely.

For us it is easy to say the word love, but to live love is a more difficult choice. It is a more burdensome task unless you can visualize the abundance of the definition of love, unless you can see that in every aspect of the law is love. Ten acts of love, ten choices of love in ten standards, commandments if you will. Ten ways to fulfill the purity love for those who desire to attain it. You see love is not only a feeling or even a mental concept of choices. Love is surrendering all that you are in order to elevate the lesser man and not desiring anything in return. Love is becoming as the servant, that the servant may know how to perform in his labor and understand the love that is presented thru him.

Understand it is easy to love gifts, but to love giving even though it appears to hurt is of a greater love. A love that lays down his life for his friends, who lay down their lives for their brothers because they love him, because he did not judge them with the law, but rather taught them that he came to fulfill the law. That the meaning of the law they understood was love, its meaning and its origin was love. And in their obedience is the action of true and pure love.
