I must confess that it is easier for me
to write about waiting than it is to
practice it! By nature, I am an
activist, and I don’t like to be kept
waiting! The Lord knows this, so He
constantly arranges for me to get
into the slowest line at the airport,
the stalled lane on the highway, and
the crowded restaurant at lunchtime.
One of these days, He hopes I will
learn better how to wait!
Just as the pauses in music help
make it more beautiful, so the
"waiting periods" of life add
beauty and grace to our characters.
There are times when God calls on us
to act, and we must not delay. But
there are also times when God calls
upon us to wait so that He may act,
and we dare not interfere. It has well
been said that God’s delays are not
God’s denials; they are only
preparation for greater blessing.
"My soul, wait thou only upon God;
for my expectation is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense; I shall not
be moved." psalm 62
