- We worship and believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God (also called Heavenly Father) who died for the sins of the world and that there is no other way to get to God except through Him.
- We believe that the Atonement of Christ is the centre of our religion and everything else stems from this great event. Nothing is possible without the Atonement of Christ.
- We believe in a Godhead namely Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost (also called Holy Spirit) and that they are three seperate beings that work towards the same purpose, that is, three in substance but one in purpose and unity.
- We believe that all things (earth, people, animals, space, universe) were created by God and that He is the Father of our spirits hence why we call Him our Heavenly Father.
- We believe that God is unchanging and deals the same way with us today as He did with people from ancient times.
- We believe that God calls prophets to be His representative on earth today just like in ancient and biblical times.
- We believe the bible to come from ancient prophets and is the word of God however it does not contain all of Gods words (even the bible itselfs refers to other sacred books no longer in the bible meaning they have been lost or removed by men…and I don’t mean the Apocrypha or Dead Sea Scrolls). A link to a list of these books will be available soon.
- We believe that Christ set up His church during His mortal ministry as recorded in the New Testament and it included prophets, apostles, evangelists (patriachs), pastors (bishops), elders etc. and that the priesthood was given to them by the laying on of hands by one who already has priesthood authority.
- We believe that after Christs’ death and the death of the Apostles, the church lost its way and the priesthood was not found on earth, also kknown as the Dark Ages by historians.
- We believe that God called another prophet in the early 1800 called Joseph Smith and restored the true church to earth exactly like the church in Christs’ time through this modern prophet.
- We believe the priesthood was restored to the earth through Joseph and a continuing line of priesthood authority can be traced today.
- We believe that Joseph was divinely appointed to translation the record of the ancient americans into what is known as the Book of Mormon, a book of holy scripture written by ancient prophets on the American continent (proof that God speaks to all His children, not just those in Jerusalem).
- We believe that God continues to call prophets and apostles today and that the current prophet is a man called Thomas Monson.
- We believe that every has the opportunity to live with God again as long as they follow Christ through faith, repentance, baptism by water and fire by one in authority and continue to live properly and keep sacred ordinances.
- We believe in building temples as they are sacred buildings where eternal ordinances are performed including marriage for eternity not just till death.
These are just a few of the things members of the church believe and which I know to be true. The only way to know if something is true is to ask the source of all truth (God) and then test it out. That way you can know of yourself if it is true or not.

I recall Mormons also believe that their “God” lives on Kolob, a planet. They also believe that there is an Eternal Mother, who gives birth to spirit babies. These spirit babies, if are valiant and behave well, are given a white skinned body, if not they are given a black skinned body. Mormonism also teaches that their “God” had intercourse with the Virgin Mary, to conceive Jesus. One of the last things I recall Mormonism teaches is:
As I am, God once was. As God is, I shall be.
Isn’t that deifying humans? Deifying humans is exactly what Satan does. He gets you to doubt, then deny God’s Word. Lastly, he has you deify mankind.
Genesis 3:5 says
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
“ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
“As God is, I shall be.”
How can you believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon? Two polar opposite teachings, side by side. And the problem is, you aren’t told all of Mormonism’s teachings until you have been in the church for several years.
Such beautiful words on the outside of Mormonism, such terrors inside. This reminds me of when Jesus said the Pharisees were “whited sepulchers.” Shining white on the outside, full of bones and death on the inside.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
God does not live on Kolob, Kolob is the closest star or planet near where God lives. That’s one of the blessings of having a modern day prophet who speas with God, revelation continues to come and we can learn more and more.
If there is a Heavenly Father wouldn’t it make sense to have a Heavenly Mother. As for how a spirit is created, no one has said anything about that. And your white skinned baby, black skinned baby comment isn’t true either. There is a lot of speculation, theories and myths about stuff like that but there is no formal doctrine from the church.
As for God actually having intercourse with Mary I’m not too sure about how it actually happened. The bible does say in Matthew 1:18 that “she was found with child of the Holy Ghost”. And in Luke 1:35 it says “And the angel answered and said unto her, The aHoly Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the bSon of God”. There are the words straight from the Bible, and isn’t the Bible true?
You’ll find the quote goes “As man is, God once was. As God is, man may become”. God our Heavenly Father is the Father of our Spirits. Just like you have the potential to become like your physical father (or mother), we have the potential to become like our Heavenly Father, like God. What do you think you’d do in heaven?
Please tell me how there are two polar opposite teachings. Both testify of Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Both teach of faith in Christ and His atonement and sacrifice on behalf of us. Also, pleasde tell me how it is beautiful on the outside and terrors inside?
I must say, John 3:16 is one of my favourite scriptures too.
Thanks for your comments and opinions Mike. It is always good to hear others opinions.
Cheers mate, this is a good overview of the main mormon beliefs. One point I’d like to say is that there is so many mystery of God still unknown ad some are being known as we go along, e.g. Kolob. But what it comes down to is that it doesn’t matter if you do or do not know about Kolob as that won’t affect your eternal salvation. Everyone who wants to live with God again needs to have faith in Christ, repent, be baptised and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost then continue to live the gospel.
I also find it funny how it is usually the mormons and Jehovahs Witnesses that are critisized by the world and most other religions escape heavy persecution. I think that just shows that the devil actively fights against the truth but with churches that are wrong he doesn’t waste his time.
Cheers and good studying.
Mormons RULE!!! And for other people who read this, dont go spreading around that mormons are polygamists who go around telling everyone their church is the only true one, because its more in depth than that. Jeez. (President Monson Rules!)
good writng, you have made your points well. I am curious to know why you said that there is proof that god speaks to other profits who are not jews and yet the mormons have excluded blacks from the priesthood. you can send me a email and tackle that one.
