I will start out by saying that I am no expert nor do I really have any authority on this subject. What I do have is a life time of experience that would dictate some wisdom on this subject. I have seen by going my own way, even calling myself a Christian and wanting to follow what the Bible says, seeking God daily for guidance and loving my Saviour; even all of this has shown me that there are still places in my life that I choose to go my own way and suffer the consequences of these choices. That is the focus of this article. Choices.
Everyday we make choices. We choose when we go to sleep and wake up, what to wear, and the motive of wearing the certain choice article of clothing. We choose where we go, where we work, who we hang out with, how we act with our friends and how we act with our family. We choose whether or not we go to church, what church we go to, if we will spend time with God, or tell Him what to do! We decide whether we’ll get mad or control our tempers, when to be harsh or when to be gentle. How about money! We choose how we’ll spend our money; for ourselves or for others, donations to make ourselves look great or self sacrifice giving because we are listening to the promptings of God. We choose to live by faith or by our own boot straps. Choices are all around us.
We also choose which president will be in office, about saving life or aborting them, heterosexual marriages or homosexual marriages, racist or loving all humanity because God created us all and loves us all. There are many choices that make us uncomfortable and squirm in our seats, they make us mad and lash out, they makes us either think or blame others, they makes us change or reject the truth and live a lie.
There is a morality in every person that knows there is a right and a wrong way. It is called a conscience. God put it there for us to be wise. He is not some kind of tyrant who has to lord it over us. No, it is quite the opposite. Let me write something here that Max Lucado wrote in Grace For The Moment Inspiration for each day of the year (Morning and Evening Edition) pg. 340 and 341:
God Honors Our Choice
We have all wandered away like sheep; each of us has gone his own way. Isaiah 53:6
How could a loving God send people to hell? That’s a commonly asked question. The question itself reveals a couple of misconceptions. First, God does not send people to hell. He simply honors their choice. Hell is the ultimate expression of God’s high regard for the dignity of man. He has never forced us to choose him, even when that means we could choose hell…. No, God does not “send” people to hell. Nor does he send people to hell. That is the second misconception. The word “people” is neutral, implying innocence. Nowhere does the Scripture teach that innocent people are condemned. People do not go to hell. Sinners do. The rebellious do. The self-centered do. So how could a loving god send people to hell? He doesn’t. He simply honors the choice of sinners.
God honors our choice. How does that affect our relationship with him?
Think of this situation this way and we’ll read on from Max Lucado:
Taking Inventory
Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? I Corinthians 3:18
All believers have God in their hearts. But not all believers have given their whole heart to God. Remember, the question is not, how can I have more of the Spirit? but rather, how can the Spirit have more of me? Take inventory. As you look around your life, do you see any resistant pockets?…Go down the list….Your tongue. Do you tend to stretch the truth? Puff up the facts? Your language? Is your language a sewer of profanities and foul talk? And grudges? Do you keep resentments parked i you “garudge”? Are you unproductive and lazy? Do you live off the system, assuming that the church or the country should take care of you?…. Do your actions interrupt the flow of the Spirit in you life?
Are there areas of your life you have resisted giving to God? What can you do to give him your whole heart?
After living a life thus far for the LORD Jesus Christ, even still seeing the mess I’ve made of my own life, seeing the mess affect my child and family; I see that my choices can be altered today if I choose to change them. I decide that I want to change them; I want to do something different and good; to rectify the wrongs that I’ve done. Now that I’ve decided this, how do I do the changing? This is the million dollars question and I bring before my audience of readers that only God can change the wrongs that have been done. I must to submit to his way of changing the coarse of my life SO THAT God can rectify and redeem these wrongs. My choice to do things differently starts by putting God back into the picture in every day living, thinking and breathing. That is what we as a country will need to do for God to take care of us, heal our land, and bring healing to our families and people. We have hurt ourselves. The only way of finding healing for these wounds, is to invite God’s Son, Jesus back into our lives and homes, business’s and government.
God is not far. He does not tolerate sin. He loves the sinner. He is full of grace, mercy and forgiveness. I repent in public for going my own way, and I repent for the public for going their own way. I pray earnestly for our country to come back to God as it was founded so that God is able to again bless us as a people who follow after His ways.

God has no place in government.
