What does it mean when rainbows fail to appear? God placed rainbows in the sky after the flood as a promise that he would never again destroy life on earth with flooding. Genesis 9:12-16 Knowing this as a child, I would always look for the rainbow after a rain, but, I noticed that there wasn’t always a rainbow. This kind of confused me. I wondered how could I be sure that what God said was true. Shouldn’t we see a rainbow after each and every rain?
I have, of course, matured in my walk with God; realizing that the rainbow is just a symbol of God’s promise. As a believer I am not to rely on signs and symbols, but, should walk in faith. It doesn’t matter whether a rainbow appears or not, I know that God is faithful. He tells me in his word that he will never leave me nor forsake me. Joshua 1:5 Therefore, during and after each and every storm in my life, I know God’s promises are still in effect.
So, what should we do when rainbows fail to appear after the storms in our lives? I say, continue to believe that God is with you; trust and believe. It is so easy to forget that God is in the mist of our troubles, because we get so caught up in our suffering. But, we should stop and realize that God is right there seeing us through it. You may not be able to see the rainbow, but, the promise of better things is there; you are blessed. He doesn’t take us to the edge and leave us standing all alone, but, he takes us all the way through to the other side.

Love rainbows but when I try photographing them they never show up somehow.
I wonder why that is, Rosetta? Maybe it has something to do with the settings on the camera. Yes, rainbows are pretty. @ImKarn23 – thanks for your comment.
