Where is The Faith? (Snippet Series)

Christ called what the woman did faith. The woman did not know what it was called. She only wanted her daughter’s healing.

all scripture quotes are taken from the King James Version except otherwise stated.

“And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto Him, saying Have mercy on me O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and besought Him, saying, send her away; for she crieth after us. But He answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, help me. But He answered and said, it is not meet to take the children’s bread and to cast it to the dogs And she said, truth Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their master’s table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.” Matt.15:22 – 28 kjv

Faith? where was the faith? We tried searching for her faith verse by verse and this is what we came up with.
Verse 22 – “..have mercy on me..my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil..”
Ok, in this verse she was asking. That of course means that she believed that she would get an answer that was in line with her heart’s desire from whom she was asking. Alternatively, she could have reached a point where desperation was propelling her into action i.e she didn’t really care whether He could do it or not, she was just on panic mode.
Verse 23 – “..He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and besought Him..”
Now some things are notable in this verse; Christ totally ignored her, He didn’t respond to her in any way and her next action gives us the understanding that He actually snubbed her. What happened next? The disciples came to Christ complaining that Christ should send her away i.e. she was now hounding them and an embarrassment.
So the woman after being snubbed by Christ turned to His disciples. They in turn, after being ‘nagged’ upon, turned on Christ. – remember that we are still searching for faith.
Verse 24 – Christ now answered His disciples with words that went along apartheid-Nazism-segregation lines.
Verse 25 – “Then came she and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, help me”

This was her chance, He speaks!(He actually insulted her with the very first statement He made concerning her. But she didn’t pause to think of her dignity and person and take a placard and start a movement against this ‘healer’ who all thought to be for the socially disadvantaged; whom she had come to know better. She didn’t even recognize it to the point of it awakening her ‘dignity’ which in this case would be another word for pride. Rather, she jumped at the opportunity of hearing Him say some thing (anything!) about her case and pressed in).

Verse 26 – “..it is not meet to take the children’s bread..”
She was only interested in one thing alone: ;if it’s bread you want to use fine; crumbs are still made of and are part of the bread. And dogs are not really interested in sitting at the table, they just want the bread.’
Verse 28 – “..O woman, great is thy faith..”
Now Christ called it faith but in her own eyes, she just wanted a desired answer. One would say she showed grit, persistence, consistency, single-mindedness and lots more but to Christ it all summed up to be faith.
There are some times ( and some would wish it happens all the time) that we walk in faith without even realizing that this is faith. You are just driven to get the results, so all the desired inputs or ingredients i.e. the laws and character of faith naturally comes into play even without the consciousness of it.
Look at the case of the Centurion, Christ called it faith. But to him, it was just  a matter of understanding. Now at a particular level we all seem to exhibit a certain degree of ‘unconscious’ faith. We sleep just knowing that we will wake up the next day without fasting and praying or being conscious of it. and the thing is this and such that are like this happens naturally.
And one suspects that God would have us operate in spiritual faith in this plane or manner as well (i.e., just like the woman and the Centurion) A plane where faith is not an issue or the issue per say but a ‘natural’ way of life. We know breathing is important, but do you sit and take stock before inhaling and exhaling air?
Faith shouldn’t be an issue, it wasn’t with this woman but she just knew she must have an answer. And we must add this, faith can be scary. That is by the time you take it and mull over it and begin to think I must ‘rise’ to it for it to work, we unwittingly separate the issue from faith. Faith then becomes an issue in itself. Something we must attain to (meanwhile we have not yet addressed the very issue). The woman, the Centurion, Jairus; they just wanted it, it was all about Christ doing it, not faith.  Christ called it faith, just go for the answer, faith is in you; let it breathe.

To sleep and realize you are going to awaken the next day is not faith, but the most simple recogintion of physics and the way reality itself has consistantly worked in the past with no evident reason why it will not continue to operate on the same basis and principle.
