I was delivering mail the other day and I saw a woman walking her dog on a leash, but I couldn’t help but laugh as I watched her being pulled from one side of the road to another. It was so funny she had no control of that dog at all even though she looked like she was walking the dog in reality it was the dog walking her. When he wanted to go the right he went and she followed and when he felt like going to the left he went and she went with him. I started thinking about how we as Christians say that God is the ruler of our lives, He takes care of us and we say we’re loyal followers of Jesus Christ and yet we do not do what He has called us to do. We go in our own direction and expect God to follow us instead of us following God.
Are you walking with God? Are you allowing Him to lead you as your Lord and master. Or are you willing to walk with Him as long as you lead?
We have to understand that God wants to lead us and not us lead Him. He knows what is best for us.
He should be our master. Where He wants us to go we will go. Be willing to live for Him. With words and actions. Jesus said if you love me you obey me. Oh, people don’t like that word. OBEY!
That is my point we live in a culture that says I follow God my way and not His way.
You can’t follow if you’re leading.
Let God lead and you follow .
Three ways God leads us:
1. Through His Word. We have to live and love His word.
2. Through His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our guide. Learn to lead by the Spirit of God.
3. Through love, true love for Our Lord and love for others will bring out total obedience.
you have to decide to follow Jesus Christ no matter where He leads you. Following Jesus is easy when you give Him everything and surrender all to Him. It’s very hard to follow Jesus if you only give Him little of you.
How about it my friend, Will you allow Jesus Christ to be your master? or will you say Jesus Christ is your master than do and live and go wherever you want. I am not talking about a life of legalism. No! I am talking about a life of complete consecration to Him. Don’t love God half heatedly. Do love Him with all your heart soul and mind and He will do the rest.
Pray this prayer with me as I pray it for myself also:
Father, I come to you in Jesus name: I ask you to forgive me for trying to lead you and help me to allow you to lead me and guide me in every area of my life. You’re my master, savior and friend. Help me to know your voice and know your will for my life so I can do your will . I am hungry for you. I ask you to take control of my leash and walk together but allow you to tell me which way to go. I want to walk behind you and not in front of you. I want to follow you. I give everything in me. I give you every need, fear and desire and ask you to help me be who you have created me to be. I love you and need you. Take me as I am and lead me. Amen.
