When you go for physical gratification, like getting drunk; there is always a consequence (who here enjoys the fun of a hangover).
When on the other hand you live a spiritual life there is gratification in your heart that far surpasses any physical thrill.
It always starts out as fun and brings enjoyment, then it slowly like a python wraps itself around you and smothers the life out if you. Think of it. When you first started drinking at parties it was a lot of fun. Then slowly, you find you need a drink before starting the day, at lunch, at dinner. Slowly the wicked poison of alcoholism ensnares you and drags you down to ruin. That is the way it happens with all bad habits. They usually start out as fun, but drag you down into a living hell. Doesn’t that sound like fun?
When you live by the Holy Spirit He fills your life with a high like no other experience you could possibly have. I know when He fills me with joy it is so overwhelming I feel like I am going to explode in pure joy.
How do you attain this gift you ask?
With a humble heart admit you are a sinner, apologize for it and give your life to Jesus. When you sing praises to Him, well that is usually when the joy fills me. It is better than anything the world has to offer.
Why not give it a try? Right now. Just open up to Jesus. He loves you and wants to heal you of your addiction and bring you into His precious family. Let us say a prayer together.
