YOU WILL BE COMFORTED
Text: Isaiah 66:13 – As one whom the mother comforts, so I will comfort you and you will be comforted in Jerusalem (New American Standard Bible).
We know what mother’s comfort means. No woman no matter how heart hardened forgets her suckling child. Spurgeon expressed it this way: “A man breaks a leg, and the surgeon sets the bone. That is kindness. But suppose the man’s mother should set the bone. Oh, how she would do it with loving kindness! That is how God has dealt with us. Oh, how tenderly!” In Isaiah 49:15, God says a mother may forget her child but He can NEVER forget His people. This is evidence of God’s compassion and mercies upon us.
God is confirming in our text today, that He will not leave us comfortless (John 14:18 –King James Version & 2 Corinthians 7:6). A mother is ready to forgo meal, own comfort and pleasure to satisfy her child. However, God does far above that for us. He gave His son to die for the world, which no woman has voluntarily offered before now and I know that it will not be in the future. God gave His son for our own good (Romans 8:32). This goes to confirm that indeed He comforts us more than we think or expect.
Have loved ones abandoned you? Are you comfortless? Have you been forsaken by your close friends and associates? God is saying ‘come to me.’ He will certainly comfort you and be like a mother, father, husband, wife, child and helper to you. See some of His promises in Revelation 7:17; Revelation 21:4; Isaiah 25:8; John 14:3, Jeremiah 13:13 and Isaiah 61:2.
Food For Thought: God is our sure comforter because He is the only one that does not fail
Prayer Points:
