YOU WILL NOT LACK GOOD THINGS

Text: Psalm 34: 10 – The young lion do lack and suffer hunger, but they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of anything good (New American Standard Bible).

One may be forced to ask the Psalmist question on this Psalm 34: 10 as we read it because we still lack some good things. However, what the Psalmist said here is not a blanket promise that we will get all the good things we ask from God. In this Psalm 34: 9 & 10 is praises to God for His goodness, which the Psalmist attributed to have come out of fear of God (Psalm 84: 11).

God knows our needs, both physical and spiritual. There are some Christians who daily face unbearable poverty but inwardly are nourished enough to live for God. The point the Psalmist was trying to prove in this text is that God is enough for us. He is all that we need and when we have Him, all other need of this life becomes secondary. That is the reason behind Matthew 6: 33.

If you feel you do not have all you need, then you must ask yourself some questions; (a) Is it really a need. (b) Is it good for me? (c) Is it the best time for me to have it? (d) Can I maintain it if given to me? Even though you answer is all in the affirmative, God may not give you all so you will learn to trust Him and depend on Him. Know also that He has time for everything. He gives us at His own time. When you depend on Him, you will have all the good things you need at the right time because it will be according to His will.
