Abu Bakar As-Siddiq or his real name is Abdul Kaabah bin Abu Quhafah and later his name changed to Abdullah bin Abu Quhafah was born at Makah at the year 573 A.D. in the Banu Tanmim branch of the Quraisy tribe . He was the father-in-law of our prophet Muhammad s.a.w. and one of his closest companions and advisors. Upon prophet Muhammad’s death at 632 A.D. he was the first ruler of Islam that ruled the Rashidun Caliphate.

The contribution of Sayyidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq during Muhammad’s times or before he is a caliph that is he is the most defensive defenders of Islam. He always defends and protects our beloved prophet from harm from the non-Muslim Quraisy tribes, especially their leader that is Abu Jahal, Abu Lahab, Abu Sufyan, Umaiyah bin Khalaf and many more. Moreover, Sayyidina Abu Bakar also contributes in expanding Islamic belief to more sahabahs like Uthman bin Affan, Abdul Rahman bin Awf, Saad bin Abi Waqas, Abu Ubaidah Al-Jarrah and many more. Furthermore, one of his biggest contributions is that he escorted prophet Muhammad during hijri times whereby most of the Islamic believers moved from Makah to Yathrib that is known as Medina nowadays. He escorted prophet Muhammad during the three nights stay at the Cave of Thur, southwest of Makah and after that he escorted prophet Muhammad during the journey from the Cave of Thur to Medina.

Sayyidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq was elected to be a caliph after the death of prophet Muhammad in the year 632. He ruled the Rashidun Caliphate from the year 632-634 AD. He was elected by the way of Musyawarah.

The first thing that Caliph Abu Bakar did when he was elected to be the caliph that he want to eliminate the Riddah groups. The Riddah group is the group that is way of the Islamic road. One of their believes that is there are other prophets after prophet Muhammad, apostasy and many more of their ridiculous beliefs. One of their false prophet that is Musailamah Al-Kazab, Caliph Abu Bakar sent out about 20,000 men to wipe out the false prophet and his believers leaded by Ikrimah bin Abu Jahal and Khalid Al-Walid. The battle begins at March 633 and Hadaramaut (Yemen) region, the battle is won by Khalid Al-Walid and Ikrimah bin Abu Jahal and Musailamah was killed and he was killed by Wasyi ibn Harb.

After the Riddah problems solved. Caliph Abu Bakar now wants to challenge one of the greatest superpower of that time that is the Sassanid Empire (Neo Persian Empire). At that time, the empire is ruled by Emperor Yezdeger III. Caliph Abu Bakar dispatches his greatest general that is Khalid Al-Walid to challenge the mighty Sassanid Empire. A number battles won by Khalid Al-Walid and as a result, the Sassanid Empire falls to the hands of Islam. Therefore, this event is one of the Caliph Abu Bakar’s contributions that is bringing the Sassanid Empire down to its knees.

Furthermore, another of his contributions is that he collects the all Holy Quran’s sentence so that it would not be just vanished just like that due to the many death of Hafiz that had been killed in numerous number of battles. Therefore, in order to preserve the Holy Quran, Caliph Abu Bakar selected Zaid bin Thabit to collect all of the Holy Quran’s words and sentences fron numerous resources and rewrite it. The copy of the Holy Quran is kept by Umar Al-Khattab, Hafsah (one of prophet Muhammad’s wife) and Uthman bin Affan.
