Are Muslims allowed to marry anyone they want?

Normally Muslims have to marry Muslims. It is considered wrong for Muslim men to marry non Muslim women. However, sometimes there is an exception where Muslims are able to marry Christian or Jewish people or “people of the book”. This is because Jews, Muslims and Christians all believe in one god. Muslim women are not allowed to marry anyone but a Muslim. No exception is given to Muslim women, this is because the man is head of the household and the woman cannot follow the orders of a non believer.

Why do they fast for a month? What do they do for that month?

Ramadan is ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Ramadan is on different days each year. In 2006 Ramadan was on September the 24th. Ramadan is a blessed month where Muslims succumb to prayer, fasting and charity. It is in September because Muslims believe that that was the month Allah (Muslim god) wrote the first verses of the holy book. Muslims fast for the entire month of Ramadan where they cannot eat or drink while its day. It is one of the five duties of Islam. They fast so they can be reminded of the suffering of the poor and to cleanse the body and mind.

Why do they call god Allah and what do they believe about him?

Allah is the Muslim name for the Supreme Being. Muslims must surrender themselves entirely to him, by fasting and doing the other 4 pillars. Allah created Adam and eve and Abraham is told by Allah to take his son to the hill and sacrifice him, which is the same story in the bible. This shows that Christianity and Islamic religion is basically the same, as heaps of the stories of Allah are also in the first 5 books of the bible.

Are Muslims allowed to eat anything they want?

For Muslims, all pork or things made from pork are not allowed. Neither is alcahol and all meat has to be slaughtered in a specific way. Also, only fish with scales are allowed to be eaten. His is all about obeying Allah, and the healthiness of the food is an added bonus to his wisdom. Muslims have to Say the name Allah before eating and thank him after eating, and it is good to eat with your right hand with guests. You have to only eat when you’re hungry and when you do you can’t eat too much.

How does the average Australian think of Muslims and how can this change?

The average Australian thinks of Muslims as terrorists because of all of the suicide bombings. This is untrue. Only the extremists decide to suicide bomb places acting on the supposed will of god. All this stereotyping could be remedied by the simple act of researching the Islamic religion like I have. Then people will see that Muslims are even possibly more kind we are. They have to pray 5 times a day, give money to the poor and fast so they can see how the poor live.

There aren’t many differences between Islam and Christian religions. They have the same beliefs such as Abraham as the farmer that sacrificed sheep, and they even have their own holy book but it’s not the bible it’s called the Qu’arn. These are the differences:

• God is called Allah
• Must pray 5 times a day
• Have to have food prepared in a special way
• Prophet is Muhammad not Jesus
• No pork allowed
• Muslims have to fast for a month to see how the poor live
• Can only eat fish with scales
