Islam is a religion mainly in countries in southwestern Asia. Especially in
Saudi Arabia. They believe in Allah and their main prophet Muhammad. Their holy scripture is the Koran.
The holy place of Islam is Mecca in Saudi Arabia. Every Muslim (believer in Islam) should try at least one time in his life to go to Mecca. There they go to the Kaaba. That’s a big rock where they walk 7 times around. Mecca is strictly prohibited for non-Muslims.
A Muslim must pray five times a day. And participate in Ramadan. Then you have one month daytime fasting. And they need people to give alms. If you do that you’re a good Muslim.
The prayer house for Muslims is the mosque. This is a large building with towers (minarets). From the minarets is generated every day when called to pray.
When people pray they always do, facing Mecca. And usually they go to the mosque on Friday.
They also have a special piece of clothing. Namely, the burqa. Worn by women to prevent showing their body. But mostly they have only a head scarf to show it.
The sacred symbol is a crescent moon with a five pointed star. This symbol on the flag of Turkey, Pakistan, Algeria or Tunisia. The five-pointed star is because the number of Islam 5. The moon does the light after darkness. Because Muslims use a calendar based on lunar cycles, they always at the end of the month no Mon That looks like a new crescent moon and that’s when you had no moon.
