Seven Easy Tips to Teach Children to Fast

Ramadan is the month that is perfect for teaching children various aspects of goodness. Even so, teaching the good things the child would not be easy. Especially to teach them to fast. Children need time to practice fasting as well. 

A. Learn while practicing

Knowledge would not be beneficial for not followed by the behavior. So also with fasting. Explain different ways of fasting in children is not complete before you let them try fasting. Let your child try to suppress thirst and prisons as they can. While practicing, they will improve the ability to be fast with perfection.

2. Engage their emotions

The kids really like to do something related to them emotionally. This makes teaching through the things they like, for example a game or image, they will attract more attention. You can begin to teach their fast by telling the stories of those who fast, celebrate Eid al-Fitr, and so forth.

3. Tell the purpose of fasting

Children often wonder: “Why should we fast?” or think “Fasting does not seem useful.” Unfortunately many parents are not wise response to questions and statements of this kind. They usually just say “Because you have to do it,” or “Because I tell you to do it,” or worse “Because you’ll get a new toy if fast.”

Such answers will not provide a strong foundation for a child’s desire to fast. Tell the purpose of fasting is to obey the commands of Allah. Because fasting is an obligation of Muslims, and during the month of Ramadan Muslims get the reward will be doubled. This will boost their morale to fast for the right reasons.

4. Emphasize the idea of ​​the magnitude

The rules are too many can sometimes make children lazy before actually starting a fast. Just let it rule on them. They are not allowed to eat, drink, and angry. 5. Let them decide

The unknown by parents is that children sometimes see in a way that responsibility more seriously than adults. Therefore, let them decide. Give them responsibilities and duties related to fasting. Suppose that help prepare the meal or the meal breaking the fast.

6. Show interest

Children will be more enthusiastic welcome Ramadan if they see their parents are also happy welcome. So, show your interest to welcome Ramadan, and Ramadan how you will live happily and enthusiastically. They will learn to deal with Ramadan by looking at the behavior of their parents.
