I was always under the impression that one of the key cornerstones to the practice of Muslimism or Islam was the peaceful nature of worshippers of the prophet Mohammad.
But perhaps that is just a big facade to entice and trap people into a belif system which is not what it really appears from the outside.
As an outsider looking in, Islam appears to be a tremendous oppressionary force where peace only reigns supreme if you are male and in control of a situation…otherwise Islam is a reign of terror where people, women especially, are not free to do as they wish. But some men are not immune to falling victims to this reign of terror either.
A case in point…
A 28-year-old Muslim man and a 20-year-old Ismlamic woman were publicly stoned to death in northern Afghanistan after they had followed the leading of their hearts in pursuit of happiness, love and peace in each other’s arms.
The man had left his wife and the woman left a man she had been engaged to be married to (probably not her choice) to pursue their ideal love life together…it was obviously a very deep love they had for each other for they risked everything including their lives, which they lost.
The couple were stoned to death by Taliban (Islamic extremists) before a crowd of 150 men earlier this week.
We have heard of other people dying after they were stoned, but those stoned deaths were the result of drug overdoses…this latest case was murder by literally having stones and rocks thrown at them…
Perhaps, believers in and followers of the Qur’an (Islamic book of faith) need to take a passage out of the Holy Bible where Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, asks in the case of a woman caught in an adulteress affair, “Woman where are thy accusers?”
The question came after the woman was about to be stoned to death and Christ said “Let him among you who is without sin cast the first stone” and those assembled ready to hurl stones upon the woman dropped their stones and departed.
I think I would sooner follow the leading and teaching of One who offers second chances than one who endorses the trampling of human rights through lack of reasoning and cruel and vicious punishment because of the desire to follow the rules of the heart.
The current war in Afghanistan is against the likes of the Taliban, many of whom are being harboured and sheltered by the Afghan government. Until such time as authorities deal with these extremists from the inside there is no way that the war in Afghanistan is winnable…unless action, similar to that taken in Japan to bring an end to World War II hostilities is unleashed against that country. And at what cost to innocents?

I will never understand how people can be so cruel in the name of religion. In any other country these men would be put away for murder. I really feel for the women. You have put your thoughts over so well, Jimbob. A really passionate and well written piece.

Sadly Religion and politics have been used in the past, even in Christian religions. The burning of women as witches happened not so long ago in our history. The practises of these Religious extremists, will hopefully soon be seen for what they are. Just the ravings of mad old men still living in the middle-ages.
Nice share…such things do happen…
It is truly disgusting immoral and henius act of shear barberism. Religion has caused more wars than any other solitary cause ever. I am glad to be a non believer in any religion. LB
A very disturbing cultural aspect.
Hello Jimbob, long time no speak! I thought I would pop on and see how you were doing but I was faced by triond errors all over the place, which is one reason why I stopped coming on here! life is to short to be waiting around.
I thought your article was really well covered and it made me sad to think about what people are doing to each other all over the world. The Afghanistan war is a solid wall of frustration to all involved, I hope that soon these things will be resolved. xx
