Since Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Mohammed over 1400 years ago, nothing has been added or deleted so far, it has remained intact, according to majority of Muslims. Although it is hard for some non-Muslims to accept this fact. The question “Is Quran the word of God?” has left some people in uncertain positions. One may ask, how is it possible that Quran has remaind intact for over 1400 years and what is the proof that it is the word of God? Well, it is very simple and easy; I would like to take this opportunity to explain to everyone that Quran is the word of God by using logical explanation. The intention of this article is not to convert any one to Islam.
Almost every Muslim boy/girl living in the developing world learns about the Arabic language in order to read the Quran in its original text. As from very young age, I learned Arabic and read Quran fluently because my parents are religious and their focus was that I should get the best of both worlds (worldly life and the Hereafter). I have read the Quran several times in its original text but until one day, when one of my no- Muslim friend asked me to learn about Islam and the Quran, I suggest to her, she should find the English translation of the Quran( which is available free either online or from the local Mosque) because it would be easier for her to understand. A week later, I realised that I needed to understand the Quran word by word, so I decided to read the Quran in English translation, although I have already got Dari/Persian translation. But it was easy for me to read it in English.
At the beginning, I didn’t understand and felt scared by reading the first chapter, there were thoughts in my mind that if I read the Quran with translation, it may change my belief (this was just the whisper of Satan who wanted me to abandon the Quran and get on with my Santic life). But I am one of those people if I start something; I have to finish it, no matter what happens next. So I kept reading it and fought against myself. I used to read three to four hours two to three days a week. As I continued reading, it came to a point I didn’t wanted to stop but wanted to read more and more because suddenly everything made perfect sense to me. As soon as I finished reading the Quran, I began to change for good. It is strange, all of a sudden; I felt peace and tranquillity in my life, despite the fact, I had been going through the toughest times in the last two years.
I began to realise how lucky I used to be a few years back, when I had a business, a perfect life, cars and money. Unexpectedly, I lost everything in 2010-11. During this particular period I lost some of my very close friends. One of the most important and unique thing I found about the Quran was, almost every single verse talks about the people before us, for instance, there are the stories of Adam and Eve, the miracle birth of Jesus, stories about Moses and all other Prophets including the last and the final Prophet of Mohammed (PBUH).
There are verses in the Quran that teaches us to be patient and humble in this world and Allah promises a huge reward in the Hereafter. In the sura Al-Asr verse103- 104, God says “(I swear) by the Time, man is a state of loss indeed, except those who believed and did righteous deeds, and exhorted each other to follow truth, and exhorted each other to observe patience.”
I strongly believe if every Muslim follow the Quran in the right way, there would not be any crime in this world. Quran has the answers to our daily problems but the issue is there are some Muslims who don’t follow the religion according to its teachings. Most of the suras of the Glorious Quran talks about self-control of our internal battle with Satan and how to live our lives peaceful in this world and the Hereafter.
The Quran is a clear sign from God that warns us not to make mischief in the land, if we do, we will be punished and there is no-one who can save us from the blazing fire. The Quran mentions the story of Mosses in the sura Al-Dhariat v38 -46. “In the case of Mosses there is a sign, when We sent him to Pharaoh with the clear authoritative proof. But he turned away from Mosses in the prided of his power and said. “He is a sorcerer or rather a madman.” So We took him and his forces to task and threw them in to the sea. Indeed he (Pharaoh) was himself a blameworthy. The Quran continues in the verse 41,-45. “And there is a sign in the destruction of the Tribe of ad when We let loose on them the destructive wild blowing wind. It spread nothing whatever it came upon but to reduced to it (dust like stuff of) rotten bones. And there is a sign in the case of Thamud. Behold! They were told, Enjoy yourselves for a while. But they disdainfully disobeyed the commandment of their Lord, so a thunderbolt struck them while they looked on (utterly confused). And there were not able to get up on their feet nor could they get anybody‘s help to defend themselves. We destroyed the people of Noah before them. They too were disobedient people.”
The Glorious Quran mentions Prophets and the people before us, because it warns us of the consequences of committing evil deeds in this world. The stories of the Prophets mentioned in the Quran is also in the Bible, therefore, it is one of the reasons that Quran is the word of God. And the Quran is update with science, even though it was revealed 1400 years ago, for instance there are several verses in the Quran which talks about stages of embryology. “Man We did create from a quintessence of clay: Then We placed him as ( a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed: Then We made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood: then of that clot We made A (foetus) lump: then We made out of that lump bones the bones of flesh; then We developed Out of it another creature. So blessed be Allah, The Best to create!’ The Glorious Quran 23:12-14.
There are hundreds of things which have been mentioned in the Quran 1400 years ago that modern technology discovered recently. For example, the Quran mentions fingerprints in 75: 3-4. “Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his finger.” In the above verses God mentions the fingertips of a human being. This is very important, as we know nowadays police are using fingerprints to find criminals, while the Quran mentions this 1400 years. Who could have known about uniqueness of fingerprints of each person 1400 years ago? From the above examples, we can clearly conclude that Quran is the word of God. If there is any doubt in your mind, you can easily clear the misconceptions or doubts by getting a copy of the Quran free online and read it for yourself.
It may come as surprise to some of you that I have never came across any verses of the Quran that indicates to kill any other human being unless if he/she creates mischief in land. The only time Quran talks about killing is when someone attacks you, your family or homeland, it gives the permission to defend yourself against your enemies, or if you are in a battlefield. But if the enemy surrenders, you should escort him to a save place.
