A man opened fire this morning on a group of parents and children to the college-Ozar Hatorah Jewish. Three children were among the victims. Police said the gunman could be the one who killed three soldiers in Toulouse and Montauban last week.
Fatal shooting this morning outside the school-Ozar Hatorah Jewish, in the residential Bonnefoy in Toulouse. Police said a man shot to 8:10 on a group of 4 to 5 people, killing at least four people: a teacher and three children. At least one other person was seriously injured.
According to Patrick Rouimi, an official of the parents, the assailant opened fire on people waiting at a pickup point informal school. The street of the residential area was cordoned off and many policemen were deployed.
The alleged gunman fled aboard a black scooter, witnesses said. The police said that the weapon used was a 11.43, the same caliber used by the man who killed soldiers last week in Toulouse and Montauban. The police think it could be the same alleged killer. It would also have used a 9 mm.
The president Nicolas Sarkozy will travel to Toulouse in the day, announced by President Richard Prasquier Jewish institutions, who will accompany him. The Interior Minister Claude Gueant is also expected on site by late morning. Place Beauvau also asked to “prefectures throughout France, particularly in the Southwest, to strengthen surveillance and vigilance around places of Jewish education.”
