Don’t Call Me a “Warlock”

A short article on why, a male witch was called a warlock.

When we think of witches we tend to think of them as female, the name warlock is given to a male witch, that is practising witchcraft, other names such as wizard and sorcerer, are given to the male gender in associated with witchcraft.

The word warlock is said to mean oath-breaker, and is believed to be the name given to someone who has betrayed their coven in revealing secrets and breaking the rules of coven then they must be vanished from the coven.

In Paganism it is considered an insult to be called a warlock within the wiccan circle. Because of their beliefs in the meaning of the word warlock.

Warlocks are looked upon as evil, and practice dark magic, of traditional Satanism, a lot of shock value has been depicted in many TV fantasy programs such as Buffy the vampire slayer and Charmed, and even Bewitched, all sticking to the male gender.

The name warlock is not used much these days people tend to just say male witch.

    Haven’t I gave you a hint to elaborate? Hmmmmnnn. I accept being deep but not entirely in the depths down there. It’s something more of the the pure blue flame which burns brighter. You have a well written piece and I was enlightened. Forget about me being a warlock for I was merely a child once born out of wedlock.
