One of the most controversial questions any one person can ask is: “Does God exist?” The most logical reason that this question is so controversial is because there isn’t any proof that would prove the existence or non-existence of god. What makes God, or religion in general so important to people and people are very sensitive to this subject.
If there were a god, why would he make gay marriage illegal? Now I know that people will say, “God doesn’t tell people what to do, people decide their own actions” but doesn’t God ultimately create each and every human being on this planet? When celebrities win awards, don’t they “first and foremost” thank God? Therefore, if God does create each person, why would he create a gay person if he would allow people to deprive them of their natural rights? This also brings me to my next point: is being gay a choice or a natural trait?
Why Would I Choose This?
Many religious people believe that homosexuality is a sin and therefore, should not be tolerated. Those people who “love God” and worship God seem to have no problem hating a group of people even though they are supposed to be all-loving. I think it is absurd to think that homosexuality is a choice when many of those people are ridiculed and tortured.
Every gay person (males and females) have told me when I asked them if they thought they were born that way or if their lifestyle was a choice, told me that they were born that way. They didn’t even say they “thought” they were born that way, but more or less they “knew” it wasn’t a choice. They asked me in return why they would choose a lifestyle that has not been fully accepted in our country.
Now I think that the only people who should be allowed to make a judgment on whether homosexuality is a choice are people who are gay. Why should someone who hasn’t experienced it be allowed to say that “it is a choice” when they wouldn’t know. Plus, if all the gay people I’ve talked to say it was biological, then wouldn’t that mean that it is. They would know if it were in fact a choice (considering they would be the ones who chose that lifestyle).
It just makes no sense that God would say that homosexuality is wrong, but then create humans that have that characteristic. It is very hypocritical and basically could prove the non-existence of god. What if one day scientists discovered the “gay gene” and that homosexuality is NOT a choice? Wouldn’t this mean that the bible is wrong since people don’t have a choice?
Please post any comments or arguments as I love to debate
