Contrary to popular belief it is possible for gay/lesbian/transgender/bisexual people to love the lord our god. And believe that Jesus Christ is our lord and savior.
Nothing upsets me more than to see religious leaders having their congregation picket with signs that say “god hates fags”. I wonder how closely do certain people read there bibles. When I read my bible, it says “thou shalt not judge”. Seems to me that is what certain people do. And didn’t Jesus say “let those without sin be the first to cast stones”. I find it hard to believe that every person in the world don’t sin. When I am in church my preacher is quick to say he is the first to admit he sins. That is why we ask for forgiveness. Our goal is to please and live for the lord. But we are not without sin. None of us.
I also find I have a problem with the people who seem to think sin is on a scale. Example: You will burn in hell because your a lesbian but just today I have taken the lords name in vain, I stole farmer browns cattle, I slept with my friends husband, I hid my neighbors coat cause, well it looks better on me and she can afford a new one, I told my kids I never did anything wrong, and I have never told a lie. Oh and did I mention I killed someone, but they had it coming, and it’s ok to commit suicide. Lets think about that.
Now before anyone puts words in my mouth, I am not saying that all people of religion are the same way, however neither are gay people.
And there are those who condemn religious leaders for letting gay people in their church. The same people don’t agree with drug users, prostitutes, gamblers, liars, and so on in there church. And they tell everyone not to socialize with those types of people. However who did Jesus keep company with? Why do you send a perfectly well person to the doctor, you don’t, so why would you send only the saints to church.
You are suppose to love the sinner but not the sin. Not hate em’ all.
I can’t help but reflect on something a friend told me when I was growing up. She said if you want to go to church wear your blinders. Just like a horse. Keep your self on the right path. If you get distracted by the he said she said, and the he did she did, then you are walking in the path of the hypocrite just like those around you. Wear your blinders and keep your heart and path true to god.
That to me makes sense.
So that Is what I do. Does that help me with the struggling fact that I am a god fearing lesbian. NO
I have so many questions left unanswered and few places to turn. I choose to turn to the lord. He is the one who will teach me guide me and tell me what he wants.
Which brings me to another point. Some say god doesn’t change, I agree. However I disagree with the fact that he doesn’t change his mind. Look how many times things happened and he in a sense said Opps we better not do that again. Or hey that’s cool that’s allowed. I find it rather hard to grasp that he will allow our hearts to love as deeply as they do for someone on this earth only to torch us for it in the end. While he is a loving god, a jealous god, and can be an angry god, I don’t believe in my heart he is a vindictive, lying god. My saying is he is god the one and only true god he can do what he wants when he wants where he wants and how he wants and for you to say oh no he wont or oh no he can’t makes me afraid for you.
How do we teach our children about the lord. Our children are in a baptist church they attend regularly we should aspire to be as strong as they are. Do we teach them that it’s wrong to love another of the same sex. No we teach them to talk to god. He will lead you. What is a sin for one man may not be for another. God convicts the heart and it is your job as a young adult to listen to your heart. He will tell you what he doesn’t want you to do. Does this make us hypocrites? No, it makes us good parents who allows God the father to mold us one step at a time. For it his only our Father Son and holy ghost that will separate us, what people on this earth say for what ever there reason has no bearing on our life style.
We teach our kids not to be prejudice, for Jesus was not prejudice, and God the father made us all each and every one. We teach our kids, to be kind, don’t speak ill of people, don’t make fun of people, don’t gossip, don’t point fingers. Tolerance is not acceptance. Don’t hate a person because you don’t like what they do. Don’t follow, lead. If you don’t like what someone is doing, lead by example, show them the way the lord works in your life. Give to help not to receive. We try to instill the values that all children should grow up knowing, having, and practicing. Most of all we teach them this; don’t take our word, your friends word, your friends parents, the newspaper, the t.v. or the Internet. You want to know the absolute whole truth, turn to god. We tell them we are so far from perfect we have been slapped with the “are ya stupid” stick. But we try to live our lives according to the lord our God and his word. And we don’t turn away any religious leader who wants to share their view of the lord with us. Just like many other Christians will tell you “I am a work in progress” Only my Lord, My God, can raise me up, or discipline me. We have his word in print. Read it, over and over he will speak to you and guide you.
Does this make us a hypocrite? No it makes us God fearing lesbians.
