Religion can have more affect on people than you think. People’s acts and ways of thinking can be gravely modified by what their religion teaches them, including some other things in life that you haven’t thought about before. I and my classmates have interviewed some interesting people about the affects religion has had upon them, and by combining what we have learned I’m able to pull a somewhat detailed reflection about how religion can affect us.
For some people, religion is really like a rule-book in life. People who strongly believe in their religion are often afraid to do things against their religion and this way their actions in different cases can be very different from other peoples. Looking at the interviews, many people had done things against their religion, but have asked for forgiveness for these sins later on. An example could be that the whole person’s friend-group is going to a party but the religion is against this, but the person goes anyways because of peer-pressure and not wanting to be different from others. Of course, this is perfectly natural and happens a lot when religion is not involved at all.
It’s not always visible to other people; religion can also have affects on the way you think and work inside your head. Some people with strong believes can think badly and negatively of people who do not believe in what they do/in something else. Some religions and beliefs can also give negative thoughts about some things which may not seem bad at all to other people. Some people also get very offended personally if people say their religion is nonsense or such, but a majority of people also take it very easily and don’t mind. It’s really important to understand that everyone has their own belief and they don’t always exactly go together.
Religion can be very helpful to people. It can help you deal with various emotions, especially guilt and sorrow. Many times, people who have not been that religious have turned to praying and God for example when somebody very close has passed away. Religion can also bring a lot oh happiness to life by answering to some questions which you don’t really have answers to. These include the meaning of life, after-life and other things above our understanding. From the interviews, many people had dealt with emotions and worries by the aid of their beliefs.
Religion can also have some downsides and negative effects. Some people cannot accept religions and people may get hurt by some racist/offensive things people say or do about their religion. Peoples religions can also have affect on the way people take people as a friend. A person who has a very religious family and a strong believe is very often discriminated and very likely bullied in school. People who have very strongly religious families will usually have more religious friends and not attend many events if they are against their ethics.
As a conclusion, when you look at religions, most of the negative and big effects you get also concern people who are really religious. People, who believe in for example God, do not necessarily really ever face any situations in life where their beliefs come against them or for them. After looking at the interviews, it did seem that pretty many people believed in God and The Bible, and most of these people had got help and support from their beliefs.

i really like the article,it helped me a lot with my search about this-religion’s affect on people.i specially liked the part-”An example could be that the whole person’s friend-group is going to a party but the religion is against this, but the person goes anyways because of peer-pressure and not wanting to be different from others”.This happens a lot with me and my friends because they have different views than I have about cigarettes, alcohol, weed, lying, relations between people etc. and that is what always gets me into conflict with my friends and sometimes they get really mad about it.now i got used to it,because they also did,but i would like to show them the real way of life(they still think good life is all about alcohol and enjoyment no matter what)and whenever i tell them something about that they find a way to avoid it and say that they wouldn’t really do that what they said(but they would).well, thanks again
