The Atheist and The Bible

The dictionary tells us that pondering over divine matters is religion. It does not stipulate that you must act to ponder.

Why do atheists read the bible if they do not believe it? I have a few unbelieving friends who do not read the bible, or have much interest to look at it or discuss it. The atheist religion is based not really discussing what they believe, but discussing what they do not believe based on the scriptures. Rarely have I read an atheist blog or article talking about the beliefs they carry. It is circling completely on what they do not believe, and the bible. I have always found this very odd. For further information on the atheism religion please click here.

This is why the atheist religion reads the bible.

 1)      Finding flaws

The atheist religion tries to locate flaws within the bible, by comparing certain verses they feel are not the same. They can open up websites and spend many hours focusing on reading scripture, to speak and preach about what they do not believe, instead of focusing on what they do believe. This is why I am a firm believer that Atheism is much different then disbelief. In the dictionary religion is described as having constant thought on divine matters. It does not stipulate whether that thought is only to believe in that particular divine matter. It simply says to ponder divine matters. The Atheist religion, ponders divine matters to discuss the unbelief of the divine matter.

 2)      To Discuss or Argue with Believers

By learning the bible, they have the advantage of discussing scriptures and prophecies with believers of God. Not necessarily only Christian believers. I have never really met unbelievers who do this. When I was an unbeliever I rarely even thought of God other then Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Saying our thanks and prayers or going to Church through those holidays. After the holiday was over, he was not really discussed. Even as an unbeliever I still went to church during holidays.

I have to wonder what sort of satisfaction one has in life and beliefs, when they are only talking about the beliefs and practices of other people. I find that an odd sense of living, and fulfillment to be honest. When I speak of Christianity, I usually focus on what I believe such as understanding foreign tongues like Dutch like I have. Speaking of prophecies we see fulfilling. I rarely focus on what I do not believe when speaking of my religion or belief.

The Atheist religion reminds me of Christianity in one way, they are preaching the disbelief in a very aggressive and in your face way. Just like how Christians preach the saving knowledge of Jesus. We go door to door to preach the good news. The hard core Atheist will come into God filled rooms to speak of scripture to try to disproof it.

Again I do see a difference in the regular unbeliever and the atheist religion.
