Published by From the beginning of man’s reign on Earth, there has been religion. Religion has helped guide the human race through some of its toughest times. From the American Indians who worshipped gods of nature, to the well known God of the Israelites, man has accepted that there is something above human comprehension.
Although religion has helped, it has also caused some of the greatest atrocities in human history. The Spanish Inqusition, Salem witch trials, and the 9/11 terrorist bombings are examples of these. Every one of these explains what can happen in religious extremism.
In believing in a higher being, in the last 500 years mankind has been able to, through innovation and hard work, answer questions through science that would have left our ancestors astounded. The power of religion and faith is not to be disputed. Belief or not, you cannot deny that religion has shaped the human race to what it is today.
