The Order of Gods Angels is broken into three Hierarchies. Each Hierarchy of Angels has it’s own purpose to serve Gods will. The Hierarchy of the Angels is drawn from passages found in both the New an Old Testament of the Bible. The three Hierarchies or Spheres of Angels can also be referred to as Triads of Choirs, each of which serves God in Heaven an on the Earth depending on there ranks. The three Hierarchies of Angels are:

First Hierarchy:

  • Seraphim
  • Cherubim
  • Thrones

Second Hierarchy:

  • Dominions
  • Principalities
  • Powers

Third Hierarchy:

  • Virtues
  • Archangels
  • Angels

The first Hierarchy of Angels is considered the Guardians of Gods Throne in Heaven. The second Hierarchy of Angels is considered the Govenors of the Heavenly Host. The third Hierarchy of Angels is said to be Gods Messengers an Warriors, that fight for the souls of mankind on the Earth.

The First Sphere of Angel’s

The ”Seraphim” mentioned in Isaiah 6:1-7 and Revelation 4:8, protects Gods Throne in heaven an Sings endless praises of Gods glory, love an power. The Word Seraphim also means “The Burning Ones” because they literally burn with the love of God. The Seraphim is described in the bible as having 6 wings, two covering there faces, two covering there bodies an two they use to fly.

The “Cherubim” mentioned in Genesis 3:24, Ezekiel 28:14-16 and Kings 6:23-28, are set apart from Gods Throne, an are said to be the guardians of light. Considered beings of protection that have perfect knowledge of God. The Cherubim is described as having four different faces. One of a Man, a Lion, an Ox and an Eagle. With four connected wings covered with eyes an feet of an Ox.

The “Thrones” mentioned in Colossians 1:6 an Revelation 11:16, are considered beings that symbolize Gods, justice an authority an are among the highest celestial beings in Heaven. Also known as the lords of wisdom the Thrones are said to inhabit the world of the divine spirit, which is considered the place were God himself resides.

The Second Sphere of Angel’s

The Dominions are the leaders of the lower Angels an have dominion over all nations of the Earth. They can also be referred to a Hashllim in the Hebrew Bible, Ezekiel 1:4. In rare occurances the Dominions have appeared to Mankind as beautiful Humans with Bird like Wings. They are the most common depection of Angel’s today.

The Principalities are commonly shown wearing a crown an wielding a staff. There main task is to carry out orders issued by the Dominions. There beings related to the physical world, an there duty is to watch over and bless Mankind. Principalities are known for inspiring Humans in all things; science an art.

The Powers are mentioned in Ephesians 6:12 and Colossians 1:16. They are the warrior class of Angels, loyal only to God. The Powers are said to have the ability to influence Human minds an are the keepers of all history. Satan was the “Chief of the Powers,” before his fall from grace. His knowledge of future events could have lead to him trying to over throw God.

The Virtues can be found in Ephesians 1:21, they regulate the Heavenly Host an Cosmos. These High ranking Angels ensure that every thing stays in order an are considered one of the highest types og beings connected with God.

Archangels are the Chief Angel’s or Chief Princes, ranking the highest of all the Angel’s Mankind knows about. The Archangels are mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and Jude 1:9. There is a couple well known Archangels, that Mankind know by name which includes: Michael, Rapheal, Gabriel and Uriel. The main duty of the Archangels is to guard an watch over nations, including all aspects of military an politics. It is said that the Archangels are the protectors of Israel and the Generals of all the Angel’s.

Angels are considered the lowest ranking of all the Angel’s. Known as the Messengers of God, they most commonly interact with humankind an are the most recognized of the Angel Hierarchies. They are mostly involved in Human affairs, an give messages to People. The Prophets are among the People who have received divine messages from God. It is this type of Angel that God uses to communicate with Mankind.
