What is Prayer?

Prayer is my number one thing to do in this life. I know it sounds boring, but it isn’t. It is very intimate, involved communication with God. Since I got saved in 1972 I have been having a running conversation with my maker.

Prayer is not strange, its the same thing that you do with your spouse after you get married. You start talking – everyday. Sometimes at night in the middle of the night, most every morning and at night over dinner. We talk, we walk and talk, we eat and talk, we are always communicating day and night together as married people. Thats what we do with God, we talk to Him. Tell Him our needs, tell him our wants and desires, we tell him our problems, and our requests. I often ask questions in my prayers.

I know that God always hears me, I don’t always get answers right away, but when I wait, and believe, eventually sometimes quickly, other times not, I get the answers I was looking for.

Prayer is ultimately communion with God. It is where we meet and share ourselves together, a holy place set apart for the two of us. I might be sitting under a tree, might be making the bed, in many places, I pray.

Praying is a quiet meditation with God. It is where you ponder the things that He has told you, the things that He has said in his book, and where you go to get solace and comfort about many things.

I liked it Cheryl! But would like to ad this: To me prayer is a secret event that I conduct multiple times daily in my secret place… my mind. Prayer refreshes my soul, relaxes my mind and body, enabling me to live a happier, healthier life. I believe everyone should pray regularly to enlighten their own life!
