What is Really Taught in Mormonism

I am not trying to condemn Mormons here, but rather the teachings. The Book of Mormon is just not God’s Word. That would be the Bible.

I recall Mormons also believe that their “God” lives on Kolob, a planet. They also believe that there is an Eternal Mother, who gives birth to spirit babies. These spirit babies, if are valiant and behave well, are given a white skinned body, if not they are given a black skinned body. Mormonism also teaches that their “God” had intercourse with the Mary, to conceive Jesus. One of the last things I recall Mormonism teaches is:

As I am, God once was. As God is, I shall be.

Isn’t that deifying humans? Deifying humans is exactly what Satan does. He gets you to doubt, then deny God’s Word. Lastly, he has you deify mankind.

Genesis 3:5 says
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

“ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
“As God is, I shall be.”

How can you believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon? Two polar opposite teachings, side by side. And the problem is, you aren’t told all of Mormonism’s teachings until you have been in the church for several years.

Such beautiful words on the outside of Mormonism, such terrors inside. This reminds me of when Jesus said the Pharisees were “whited sepulchers.” Shining white on the outside, full of bones and death on the inside.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

I read the first comment and noticed the holy underwear thing. Has anyone watched Kent Hovind’s seminar (I think the 5th) where he discusses the holy underwear? A MASONIC LODGE SYMBOL on each nipple and thigh. Masonic Lodge members are Satanic!

Not to mention the Book of Mormon. Many revisions, and very self-contradictory. I also recall two Mormonism teachings, about how many wives to have. One teaching said, if you have only one wife, you are damned. Another said, if you have more than one wife, you are damned. There’s a slight problem.

Repent! And turn to the true God!

nice to see you twisting the truth to make it sound harsh, how about doing some real research and not relying on speculation.

just shows you know nothing and listen to rumours.

“Me”> I am not twisting the truth at all. Perhaps you should do research yourself, and forgive me if I’m wrong, but I recall research involves looking up information on the Internet, books, and possibly interviews with certain people. That’s precisely what I did. I had heard the rumor of the “holy underwear” previously. Perhaps you can confirm for me whether or not there is actually “holy underwear”? If not, then the teachings of the Book of Mormon are nevertheless strange. God had intercourse with Mary? Mormonism teaches that you shall be as gods? Read again Genesis 3:5.

    Mike,

If you need a heart transplant would you go to an ophthalmologist or cardiologist? I hope that you would say a cardiologist, else this post is rather pointless. Instead, of listening to rumors, telling half truths, repeating obscure doctrine without context, and repeating the falsehoods that are spewed by those who believe that LDS are not Christians, I would suggest that you actually go to the cardiologist (LDS church) for your information.

First of all, you should be very careful about judging others beliefs…..“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brothers eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?” Matthew 7

LDS, believe that Kolob is a planet that is nearest to God. LDS doctrine does not place God there. LDS believe there are an infinite number of spheres that roll through the side rails of heaven. This is a belief that is not tangible to nonbelievers; much like people didn’t believe the world was round until Columbus proved it, or that nearby planets were there until space exploration proved it. But, NASA has not explored all of sky…now have they? So, you can not prove that other planets do not exist, no more than I can prove that they do. However, like Columbus, faith guides many beliefs before proof exists.

LDS do not believe that “good babies” are born white and “bad babies” are born black. Do you know how many “non-white” people are members of the LDS church all over the world?

LDS do not believe they will become Gods or deified, rather that righteous man can become like his father, that is to become a man of holiness and that we are created in the image of God. Genesis 1:26-27 “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

I assume that you are referring to temple garments as “holy underwear.” Please tell me how you can claim something false or describe what they are, if you do not even know their name. Temple garments, nor the LDS church, have anything to do with Masons. I wonder if you feel that Aaron and his priests were satanic for wearing “ceremonial garments” in Ex 28 and Lev 16? Anyway, the garments and symbols are nothing satanic. It is a multifaceted practice, but some of the reasons behind the garments are to remind the wearer that there clothing should be modest and represent cleanliness and salvation. If the garment can be seen, then the clothing is too revealing.

As to the wives. Nether of your quotes is accurate. There was a time where the LDS church practiced polygamy. However, the need for polygamy no longer exists. But, let me ask you this: do you think that families will not be together in heaven? Do you think that spousal love, love of your children, etc.. all end here on earth? What about people who lost a spouse to death, but then married another spouse; do you think that you will have to pick which spouse you will be with in heaven?

One can believe in the Bible and Book of Mormon because they believe both are God’s word. It is a fallacy to ask such questions. You believe in the Bible, not based on physical evidence that Noah loaded animals onto an ark, Moses parted the Red Sea, Daniel survived a lions den, or David defeated Goliath, but rather because it is in your heart and soul. Well, one believes in the Book of Mormon based on the same principles.

The only one that should repent is you for your judgment, mocking, and prejudice. If you don’t believe in LDS doctrine, then that is your option. However, it is not your place to judge anyone who does.

For readers: if you have a desire to learn about the LDS church or just have a quest for the truth behind what the LDS church actually is, then go to offical church website.

Jo, I am not judging you on your beliefs, rather I am deciding whether or not the belief is correct based on what is in the Bible. The LDS do believe God is on Kolob, in fact two missionaries (LDS, and when asked about this), answered, “Well, you’re not supposed to know that, but yes.” The missionaries were also asked about deification and about spirit babies, to which they replied the same thing. If I recall, it was previous revisions of the ‘Book of Mormon’ that stated this.

When I refer to ‘holy underwear’, I am not speaking of your temple garments. In fact, here on ‘Relijournal’ there was an article about a post asking about this ‘holy underwear’, which a member of the LDS faith stated they infact do wear them. Another person also saw the Masonic lodge symbol when visiting two Mormons (he is also a Christian evangelist; I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t lie). I certainly do not feel Aaron and his priests’ ceremonial garments were Satanic, also. As to my two quotes; if I recall, they in fact came from previous revisions of the Book of Mormon.

One cannot believe in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. This is because the Book of Mormon has polar opposite teachings (previous revisions at least, and if it were the Word of God, why should it need so many revisions?).

I do not judge you for your beliefs, I am attempting to inform you they are wrong.

Sorry for the rather disorganized state of this post; I was in somewhat of a rush.
