Published by So what is religion anyway? Webster’s defines religion as “a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices”. This means that if you were to fervently believe that there were sock-pixies stealing clothing from your washing machine and you began to wait for them at certain times of the day, every day, that this would be a religious practice. So tell me this, how is it that a son can be dis-owned simply for what he labels himself?
There is a seventeen year old boy that was recently kicked out of his parents house simply because they found out that he no longer called himself a christian. It doesn’t matter that he still holds the same beliefs, practices, and is much happier, he is a pagan and so he “worships the devil”. This boys God is the Hebrew God, Yahweh. He literally calls on the same God as his christian parents, goes to the same church as his christian parents, he simply cannot claim a religion that he has seen is mostly people “faking it”.
So I must ask, what does religion mean to you. Would you dis-own your own child for doing what he believes that God wants him to do? We as a human race need to ask ourselves, does religious title really separate us that much? Just something to think about.
So what is religion? Religion is the single greatest thing that will divide a people otherwise united.
Religion breeds disagreements and war! It will be much better to merely live and let live and do no harm. However, religion is a phase that humanity and intelligence goes through as it tries to understand the meaning of life….the next stage is objective reasoning as we then try to see the universe as it actually is and not as we guess or would like it to be for psychological reasons.
