Relijournal is a site that publishes the religious articles of Triond writers. Have you ever wondered where Relijournal’s traffic comes from? Which countries contribute the most to that site’s traffic? The following is the present Alexa statistics (March 2011) concerning www.relijournal.com.

(1)  India

India accounts for 23.7% of Relijournal’s traffic. It is the top country in this respect. Hats off to India! They contribute the most traffic to Triond in general too.

(2)  Nigeria

Nigeria is in second place accounting for 19.9% of the site’s traffic. They are the seventh most populous country in the world so this should not really be a surprise.

(3)  United States

14.1% of Relijournal’s traffic comes from the United States. This is also no surprise given their status in the world, their population and the many US writers on Triond.

(4)  Trinidad and Tobago

Fourth on the list is the tiny twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean Sea – the land of my birth. It is amazing that a country that barely appears on the map of the world due to its miniature size should be #4 on this list. It is like small Japan being the economic giant that it is. Trinidad and Tobago accounts for 7.0% of Relijournal’s traffic.

(5) United Kingdom

The United Kingdom contributes to 4.9% of Relijournal’s traffic, another superpower in the top 5. It is only fitting that the country that gave us English should be near the top with respect to the readership of an English-speaking site.

 (6) Denmark

4.6% of Relijournal’s readership comes from Denmark. The Danes are certainly making their mark in spot #6.

 (7) Serbia

In spot #7 comes Serbia. They contribute to 3.3% of Relijournal’s readership. No doubt the Serbs are “hungry” for Relijournal’s content (pun intended).

 (8) Malaysia

Malaysia whose name means “land of mountains” comes next. 2.5% of Relijournal’s traffic comes from Malaysia in South-east Asia.

(9) Canada

The last name of a country that we have for this list is Canada. Their readers make up 2.2% of the site’s traffic.

(10) OTHER

The rest of countries make up 17.9% of Relijournal’s traffic. Apparently separately the percentage of traffic that these unnamed countries contribute are less than Canada’s 2.2% but together they account for more traffic than that of the United States which has the third largest readership on Relijournal.

These are the countries that keep Relijournal running with their interest. Interestingly enough only four of them have English as their official first language. It goes to show that both religion and English cross all barriers.

Very interesting. I am a bit shamed that my homeland of Canada was last on the list. Also surprised that Kenya didn’t even make the list, since several Triond writers are from Kenya.
    Great topic.
