I consider myself an Agnostic. An Agnostic, by definition, is a person that is undecided and/or unsure as to the existence of any God or deity. As opposed to an Atheist, who believes wholeheartedly and beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no God or deity, an Agnostic leaves the door open for the possibility that a God or supernatural deity of some kind might exist. And for me, being an Agnostic makes the most sense. It’s the most logical position to take.
Nobody knows for sure if there is a God or not. The Christians, the Muslims, the Catholics – they don’t know for sure if there is a God. And likewise, the Atheists, who are so vociferous in their beliefs as to the non-existence of a God, don’t know for sure that there isn’t a God. I mean, how can anybody know for sure? The only way to legitimately find out would be to die. We can all proclaim our beliefs and shout our positions to the tops of our lungs, but the bottom line is that nobody knows sure. We can all hope and pray and believe that there is a God, but our wants and desires for there to be a God doesn’t make it so. And, no matter how crazy or stupid or ignorant a belief in God might appear to be to some people, that doesn’t mean that a God does not in fact exist. The believers and the non-believers alike are all screaming and proclaiming their side to be the correct side. But who really knows for sure?
And that’s why the Agnostic position seems to be the most rational and sensical of positions. The Agnostic is not arrogant enough to take a definitive position one way or the other. We sit on the fence, so to speak. We leave open the possibility either for or against the existence of a God. Now, some Agnostics – myself included – may lean towards the side of being either a believer or an unbeliever without fully committing to either position. For me, personally, I highly doubt the existence of any God and/or supernatural deity or afterlife. I believe that science has answered many questions for us about the nature of our planet and universe, the nature of human origins, and how various plants and animals have evolved. I find religious dogma and the belief in any God to be highly unfounded and unsubstantiated. But do I know for a fact that no God exists? No, I don’t!
So, deferring to my rational mind, I will continue to take the Agnostic approach. In terms of having a definitive answer to such an all-encompassing question as to whether or not a God exists, being an Agnostic seems to me to be the only logical position.

I completely agree with you–agnosticism is the only truly authentic position one can take.
I agree also. It’s ironic how atheists think they are right becuase they have “faith” that a god doesn’t exist the same way Christians have “faith” that god does.
