In previous articles, I gave a rough description of spells and practices that can serve for the purpose of magical self-defense and protection. In this article, I present to you spells and practices that I have used for my own efforts in this area. While I have found these to be quite helpful, your experiences may vary. As with all magical works, remember to use common sense and to keep practical considerations in place.

Personal Protection & Self Defense

  1. Mirror Castle: Envision yourself within a castle or similar fortified building. This building is impenetrable and you hold ultimate power within it. About this castle is a great mirrored sphere. This mirrored sphere reflects all negative and unhealthy energy back to the sender. The energy that you permit thru the mirror enters into your castle at your will. When you wish to completely close off the energy of the external, this permitted energy fills the moat about the castle and awaits your will to enter.
  2. Flame’s Kiss: Take a white candle and consecrate it to the Gods. Invoke their blessing and ask for their protection. Invoke the purifying aspect of the Element of Fire and light the candle. See the candle’s flame burning away the unhealthy and unwanted energies surrounding you, leaving only the energy of the Gods and love in its place.

Home Protection

  1.  Sand Trap: Take a small bowl and fill it with fine sand. Take a second bowl and fill it with finely ground salt. Into a large jar, pour a layer of sand. Over this layer of sand, pour a layer of salt. Continue alternating layers of salt and sand until the jar is filled. As you secure the top upon the jar, envision the sand drawing all unhealthy and unwanted energies into it. Envision the salt purifying that energy and releasing it into the Universe for the Gods to use to bring health and well being into your home. Place this jar near the entrance into your home.
  2. Steel Barrier: Take a steel finishing nail and secure it at the entrance into your home. Do so for all other means of entrance into your home (windows, back door, etc). As you secure the nail, see a steel wall going into place, blocking unwanted entities, energies, or harm from your home. This spell is best completed at the waning moon and after a full home cleansing/blessing.

Property Protection

  1. Vehicle Blessing: Take a small bowl of water and put three pinches of salt into it. Place this bowl upon your altar or hold in both hands. Call upon the Gods to bless the water. Walk widdershins (counter clockwise) around your vehicle, flicking water at it from your non-dominant hand. As you do so, see all harm and unwanted energies being washed away. Do this three times. Then walk deosil (clockwise) about the vehicle and flick water at it from your dominant hand. As you do so, see the blessings of the Gods for safety and well being pour over the vehicle like rain. Do this three times. When finished, pour the excess water out upon the earth, allowing the blessings of the Gods to return to the earth and nature.  *PLEASE NOTE: Directions are reversed for the Southern Hemisphere.*
  2. Ward Against Theft: Take the item you wish to place this ward upon between your hands. Envision it sitting within a secured box with a key. As you mentally turn the key and lock the box, chant the following three times: “Return to me, my property.”
