Perhaps, the greatest figure to come in recent memory, the late Pope, John Paul II, was always considered as one of the most influential world leaders in modern history. He was often credited as the instrument of the collapse of communism in Europe. His tireless effort to promote faith, justice, peace, solidarity and democracy earned him a reputation of being the most effective God messenger ever sat in the throne of St. Peter since the first millennium. On the occasion of what could have been his 89th birthday, let us go back to history how he reshaped and influenced the world with his unique kindness, compassion, deep humility and devotion to Catholic faith, and discover why he was called "The Great".
