What the Bible says about building a house on a rock!
Everyone is looking for the newest, best thing. We all want to be original, individualistic and stand out from the crowd. Sometimes we come up with hair-brained ideas that seem to work out great. But what are the real, long term results?
As the Rabbi, the RESURRECTED CHRIST had every right to cross-examine His chosen ones particularly those who faltered and toyed with the divine script that He fulfilled. The Creator-creature relationship still holds. It is the basic relationship between God and man. The test questions of love and the commands of servitude were answerable only with yes or no. Besides, it was not a human authority who was interrogating. It was a Resurrected Divinity. He must be answered truthfully and not silently. Nonetheless, Peter’s verbosity inexplicably vanished into thin air for whatever reason.
Jesus realized that Peter was going to continue the work of His new Church when he declared that Jesus is the Son of the Living God. Jesus knew that this knowledge could only have come from the Father Himself. Matthew 16:18 is the beginning of the Catholic Church and the election of Peter as the first Pope.
A poem of encouragement using God’s word.
