Why is there consciousness? In this article, I explore this question and then present a short excerpt from Diane Ackerman’s book A Natural History of the Senses and an excerpt from Carl Jung’s interviews with Aniela Jaffe that were compiled into a book called Memories, Dreams, Reflections.
